1. Digital Access
·
ICTs are opening ways for the transformation of
the way live, learn, work and communicate, it is important to note that the
decisions of opening, directing or closing of opportunities is key to bringing
social and economic benefits to people around the world.

Digital access is key and critical to bringing
these social and economic benefits and should be at forefront of all business
and government decision-making in the context of creating opportunities.
·
Digital access opportunities will improve social
transformations as a result of increased use of ICTs (manual, 2015)
·
2. Digital literacy
·
Is the ability to use information and
communication technologies to find, evaluate, create and communicate
information, requiring both cognitive and technical skills.
·
It is important that we learn these skills, so
that we are able to participate fully in our education and careers. In order to
do this, we need to have a basic understanding of how computers and search
engines work, as this forms our understanding of the skill required.
·
It’s important that the computers are connected,
it’s also important that the computers agree on how to communicate, how the
message will be addressed and how it will get passed on. (manual, 2015)
3. Digital communication and fluencies
·
The choice of form depends on the purpose of the
communication and the audience involved.
·
Furthermore the language used depends on the
context within which it is communicated to the demographics and size of the
audience.
·
The reality is that jobs are being automated
more and more, resulting in a pressure for companies and countries alike to
search for those people that have creative skills. (manual, 2015)
4. Digital etiquette
·
When we
grew up we were told how to behave. Our parents guided us on what society
accepted as polite and considerate and it ranged from the way we eat to how we
speak to others.
·
We learn from an early age that our behavior has
an impact on those around us. We take care, hopefully in our interactions and
show the respect that is due
·
However the etiquette or behavior norms, we
apply to situations will differ depending on who our audience is, the topic or
issue we are dealing with and the situational context in general
·
Same applies to our online behavior; we are
rapidly learning that our comments, posts, images and the videos we share have
an impact on those around us. (manual, 2015)
5. Digital rights and responsibilities
·
Digitals rights and responsibilities are the
privileges and freedom extended to all digital technology users and the
behavior expectations that come with them.
·
The right to internet access may be seen as an
inherent right but we have a responsibility toward society to use it
responsibly.
·
We have the right to access products that are
available but it’s our res
Responsibility to ensure that the companies
we support are ethical in their conduct and business practice.
·
We have right to education, it is a basic human
right and with this right we have a right to access information to support our
educational needs (manual, 2015)
6. Digital law
·
We need to understand the ramification of our
actions, be they legal or ethical and what effect they have on the community
around us.
·
Some of the most far-reaching and hardest to
correct are those impacts that occur on socio-cultural elements.
·
In today’s digital age, we sometimes sign
privacy agreements online with websites and social media platforms.
·
With the advent of technology and its increasing
ability to become more efficient, businesses have to take into account how
their digital practice impact on society. (manual, 2015)
7. Digital Security
·
Is a joint venture between two organizations
focused on the protection of human rights.
·
Digital fraud and crime includes crimes such as
scams, child pornography, identity theft, social media re-engineering, cyber
bullying, cyber-stalking and cyber harassment. (manual, 2015)
8. Digital health and wellness
·
Is the physical and psychological wellbeing in a
digital technological world
·
Ergonomics is the science of designing
environments and products to match the individuals who use them.
·
The interesting aspect is that we are in the
stage of generational adoption, where we have users that did not grow up with
the internet or the connectivity it provides. (manual, 2015)
9. Digital commerce
·
Commerce has not changed much since prehistoric
times, however over the last century we have seen a major transformation
·
E-commerce is not seen as a revolutionary but
rather it is a natural part of the evolution of commerce.
·
With the introduction of digital technologies
and the rapid adoption thereof by consumers, change was brought about again. (manual, 2015)
